The Australasian Microarray & Associated Technologies Association will be holding their 9th annual meeting on "High-Throughput Genomic Technologies" to be held at the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba, NSW, Australia from the 18th to the 21st October 2009. We have reached capacity for the venue so 2009 conference registration is now closed.


AMATA has invited high calibre speakers encompassing all forms of high throughput genomics, technologies and bioinformatics, as well as an unique selection of post-conference workshops.

The invited speakers are: Patrick Brown, Martha Bulyk, Carlo Croce, Greg Gibson, Vishy Iyer, Javed Khan, Stephan Schuster, and Olga Troyanskaya. In addition, Cheryl Kerfeld and Laura Hoopes will run one of the post-meeting workshops on the use of microarrays and next-gen sequencing in undergraduate education.

NIL registration fee for the first 50 eligible students*

The AMATA organising committee would like to encourage student participation with reduced cost on conference registration. We are offering to waive the registration fee for the first 50 students who meet all of the criteria listed below. To be eligible, you must;
  • be a full time postgraduate student (or. BSc (hons) year),
  • be an AMATA student members (if not, become a Student AMATA Member),
  • have a supervisor who is a paid member of AMATA and is registered to attend the conference,
  • be the first or presenting author on a submitted abstract; and
  • register during the early bird period which expires 30 June 2009 (Abstracts may be submitted after this date).
This offer is limited to two students per academic supervisor. Note that if the supervisor cancels their registration or the student does not submit an abstract, students who have registered for free will be liable for the full student registration cost.

Awards and Prizes

Travel Bursaries

The winners will be selected by a panel of judges from within the organising committee on the basis of their submitted abstract. Bursaries totaling of up to $1,500A will be offered and will be awarded prior to the meeting and made payable to the recipient's institution. For more details see http://www.amatameeting.org

One poster prize of $500A and one talk prize of $1,000 will be awarded in this category.
